Working Together for Fire Safety
AquaSecurity, in collaboration with Hulpverleningszone Zuid-Oost, ANPI and the Belgian Fire Sprinkler Network, organised a hands-on training day focused on automatic fire suppression systems. These systems, including sprinklers, deluge systems, foam systems, water mist and fire monitors, are essential for controlling fires quickly, often before the fire brigade arrives.
Bridging Theory and Practice
The training took place at AquaSecurity’s facility in Erembodegem and brought together fire safety professionals and fire officers from across East Flanders. The day began with an opening speech by the colonel of Hulpverleningszone Zuid-Oost. Afterwards, Jonas Ghijsels (AquaSecurity) and Luc De Ketelaere (ANPI) shared their expertise on the operation, regulations and importance of automatic fire suppression systems.
Participants not only gained in-depth theoretical knowledge but also had the opportunity to experience the practical side during an interactive tour of AquaSecurity’s pump room and training centre. This allowed them to see firsthand how these systems function in real-life situations.
Automatic Fire Suppression Systems Save Lives
Sprinkler systems and other automatic fire suppression solutions, such as deluge, foam, water mist systems and fire monitors, are critical in high-risk environments like warehouses, high-rise buildings, parking garages and battery storage facilities. Fire monitors play an especially vital role in combating battery fires, delivering large volumes of water or foam in a targeted and often fully automated manner.
These systems enable early fire detection and immediate suppression, significantly limiting fire damage and contributing to a safer working environment while protecting lives. Investing in such systems means investing in business continuity, safety and peace of mind. A properly designed and well-maintained suppression system prevents a small fire from escalating into a major incident, with severe consequences for people, buildings and operations.
Building a Safer Future Together
This training day not only highlighted the technical importance of fire suppression systems but also the value of collaboration between fire services, regulatory bodies and specialised companies like AquaSecurity.
